Yoga for Health

Yoga for Health

India is known for its cultural heritage and glory for the centuries. Our country has contributed to the human welfare in several ways. Yoga is one among them, which has gone beyond the limits of nation, region, religion, faiths and beliefs. The Yoga practices are very much relevant and useful to the present day problems both for common man and to the spiritual aspirants.

Nowadays, Yoga is popular world-wide. People practice Yoga in some form or the other, if not for spiritual purpose but for maintaining a good health or to overcome some of the health problems. As an easy and heart friendly exercise or groups of Yogic practices like Asana, Pranayama and Dhyana etc. Yoga is one of the fields of tourist attraction in India.

Yogic practices are the reserves of those sages and Rishis who devoted there life for the search of eternal truth and the way to realize it. For the same they discover the special practices to keep the body healthy through many specific postures and special breathing techniques and yogic Satkarmas. Special postures are learnt through the other existing co-being and animals and name of the asana posture is also ascribed the same as Bhujangasana (on the name of serpent), Mayoorasana (on the name of peacock that is asana posture is able to generate the capability to digest even poison-as peacock eats snakes). In the same the vital force of the body is described as prana. It’s proper channelizing is akin for the disease free life and continuation of existence. Various kinds of Pranayama practices have been developed for the correct channelization of this vital force which ultimately corrects and affects the symphathetic and para-sympathetic nervous system and eventually improving whole body’s functions and Systems. Needless to say that their correct functioning is attributed as the Arogya in the Aurveda and Health in modern Medical Science terminology.

The word Yoga, is derived from ‘Yuj’ which means union, this union is empirical-self to Supreme Self. This existence is devoid of impurities and is essential nature or pure nature or a immortal existence. Or in mundane world it is a disease free existence or full of Arogya. Yogic practices in the form of therapy and Sadhana are intending for the balanced physical and blissful spiritual existence. This is also the modern concept of health as according to WHO health is not merely physical well being ness but spiritual blissfulness. Fulfilling the aforesaid Yoga involves simple and friendly practies as its course and assures all its aspirants for mental and spiritual attainments which is lying in its core philosophy.

Now the modern medical scientists and doctors are paying attention towards the holistic approach for the treatment. It has been observed that a combination or group of the therapies of traditional and modern medicines are more effectively serving the purpose of cure. Yoga among traditional systems, stands foremost as preventive and promotive therapy for ailments and supporting physical, mental and spiritual well being. So far as the therapeutic aspect of Yoga is concerned the clinical studies have lucidly demonstrated the therapeutic potential of yoga practices in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases like Asthma and Bronchitis. Similar effects have been found out in low Back pain, Diabetes, Migraine, stress related psychosomatic disorders.
